Venice Family Clinic is a community health center whose mission is “To provide quality primary healthcare to people in need.” Venice Family Clinic cares for over 28,000 low-income patients in over 120,000 visits annually who might otherwise go without critically needed health care services. Venice Family Clinic has eleven clinical sites with over 350 staff, 1,700 volunteers, and a budget of $50million. We provide high quality, comprehensive primary and specialty healthcare, dental, mental health, substance use treatment and child development services to underserved individuals and families on the Westside of Los Angeles.
Come join our Children First Early Head Start team as a Behavioral Health Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for Head Start Performance Standards for Mental Health and will:
- Conduct behavioral assessments and identify possible functions of behavior, which aids in appropriate classroom, individual and home interventions.
- Provide ongoing support, education and strategies to parents, teachers, home visitors and managers to assist the mental health of the child and family.
- Provide general classroom/playgroup observations to access group functioning in classrooms and home care as needed.
- Conduct parent meeting to advise the parent of concerns about their child’s behavioral issues and establish a working partnership to successfully address their child’s needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, program managers, program coordinators, home visitors to develop and implement a Behavior Intervention Plan.
- Provide feedback, maintain written documentation, and participate in meetings.
- Provide staff and parents with applicable resource materials.
- Plan and facilitate trainings/workshops.

Salary range: $26.59 – $45.69 Hourly
- At least two (2) years of experience in counseling and early childhood education within a Head Start setting (preferably Early Head Start).
- Master’s degree in either Social Work, Psychology, Child Education, or related field.
- Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and Regulations, and proven knowledge of Child Development for Infants and Toddlers.
- Proven knowledge of family dynamics.
- Computer proficient with Microsoft office and ChildPlus.net., and skills in maintaining detailed confidential notes in a database.
- Must be able to maintain a safe environment for up to 8 children, this includes but is not limited to the physical ability to evacuate children and parents during disaster drills and emergency situations.
- Ability to exercise professional judgment in evaluating before making decisions.
- Ability to manage deadlines, adapt to changing work, communicate effectively, and maintain professional boundaries.
