Position Summary

Babysitters are the primary caregivers for certain staff member's kids. The babysitter is responsible for following planning guide, teaching, coordinating, supervising, and carrying out activities. Responsibilities also include guiding children in their personal growth and in the daily schedule.

Essential Functions

  • Direction, supervision, and organization of children in their care, within activities and throughout the camp in order to meet the intended outcomes.
  • Apply basic youth development principles in working with the children through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, and involvement in the camp program.
  • Assure the children are properly supervised at all times.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for the children.
  • Provide the daily care of each child within your supervision including recognition of personal health needs.
  • Ensure that the children receive their medications as directed by health care staff.
  • Be alert to the children's needs and assist them with personal and/or health problems and discuss with parents when appropriate.
  • Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure proper and safe utilization and maintenance. Report repairs needed promptly to program director.
  • Be a role model to the children and staff by displaying exceptional attitude and behavior through language, relationships, and daily habits.
  • Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.
  • Contribute to verbal and written evaluations and communication as requested.
  • Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning, and leading those as assigned.
  • Participate as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights, and other all-camp activities and camp functions.
  • Properly maintain the cleanliness of the cabin you are assigned to.
  • Observe daily reveille and curfew hours.
  • Complete weekly statistic and evaluation forms.
  • Keep weekly journal and report any incidents or concerns in a timely manner in accordance with PTM.
  • If the babysitter is a minor - they will also be in the Timothy program and join in with Timothy Program activities. If they are over 18, when not working with the children or on free time, the babysitter will help and be fully immersed in the programs. Assist with and be involved with the supervision of campers at chapels.
  • Assist with and be involved with the supervision of campers at during Sunday Services
  • Assist cabin leaders in the supervision of campers and participate/lead nightly cabin devotions.
  • Assist with and be involved with the supervision of campers at during campfires.
  • When time permits, away from main responsibilities, be involved with cabin buddy assignment to assist with camper activities.

$325/weekly

Education
High School or Equivalent (preferred)

Experience
Must be 16 years of age or high school graduate. Must have the desire to work with children, interact with them and assist in teaching activities. Ability to visually and auditorily identify and respond to environmental and other hazards. Ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques. Ability to accept supervision and guidance. First aid and CPR certification is a plus. (required)
