Overview

TRC Advanced Energy (TRC) is a globally known energy consultancy. TRC collaborates with clients to develop and implement market transforming programs and initiatives that promote electrification, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and green building in multiple market sectors across the US and around the world. These initiatives reduce energy costs, improve the health and safety conditions of buildings, while also helping the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. TRC acts nationally to address some of our country's most challenging problems: global climate change and energy independence.

TRC is seeking a Building Science and Technical Support Engineer to contribute to our California Residential New Construction electrification portfolio. This role will have the opportunity to lead the future of California's next step in electrification. This individual will report to the Building Science and Technical Engineering Manager and support initiatives in exploratory research, data analysis, performing energy modeling and building simulations. They will use their research and data analysis to advise the California regulatory entities on advanced strategic residential electrification initiatives. This individual will have the opportunity to apply their proficient building science technical knowledge to drive meaningful changes to the California energy and electrification market. They will also communicate their findings and technical expertise to collaborate with a cross-functional team that consists of program management, operations, outreach, marketing, IT, and other support staff.

The ideal candidate will hit the ground running with a strong background in building science and energy efficient building envelope design. They have a strong understanding of residential electrification technologies such as heat pump water heaters, heat pump HVAC or air source heat pumps, induction ranges, electric dryers, electric infrastructure and more. The ideal candidate will be a creative visionary to help us bridge the gap between meaningful data and the future of new innovative electrification technologies and programs. They will be able to explain their data findings and technical expertise in meaningful layman terms to explain the technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders. With minimal direction from their manager, they will be able to complete meaningful independent research projects and provide value to the residential new construction electrification portfolio. The ideal candidate is passionate for the sustainability and energy industry and is creative about exploring solutions that will enhance the technical offerings and participation in our electrification portfolio. They will represent the building science and technical expertise of our electrification portfolio and TRC with a professional and industry leading presence.
