Job Description

EBAD seeks an Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist, reporting to the Manager, Safety & Facilities. The successful incumbent in this position will play a pivotal role in supporting Process Safety Management activities and Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) for the Moorpark facility.

This position is located in Moorpark, CA.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform safety & environmental compliance activities, including onsite audits.
  • Support Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including conducting Process Hazard Analyses (PHA).
  • Collects data relative to inspection of waste processes and their proper execution; preparation of waste manifests for off-site shipment and participation in continual improvement activities.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance documents including OSHA logs and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) forms.
  • Support and conduct Ergonomics assessments in both office and production environment.
  • Support all EBSS activities, along with leading safety steering committees.
  • Work within a team structure to achieve Company and department goals.
  • Coordinate all aspects of Hazardous Waste activities for Moorpark facility.
  • Follow up on Safety Observation findings and work with managers on recommendations for actions related to closure of any findings.
  • Responsible for lock out Tag Out (LOTO) inspections and assuring program is been follow.
  • Assure Forklift program is been follow and individuals are properly trained.
  • Investigates industrial accidents/incidents to help determine root cause and corrective action.
  • Tours plant to inspect safety equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Assist in the development and management of capital budgets related to the EH&S department.
  • Support maintenance of EH&S records and report preparation for management review as needed.
  • Support New Hire Training from an EH&S standpoint.
  • Support weekly department safety meetings and "Six Minutes of Safety" discussions as needed.
  • Supports all Emergency Response Team (ERT) activities along with coordinating meetings and required training for ERT team.
  • Observe EHS regulations, wears all required safety equipment, encourages safe working practices, corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports them to the proper personnel.
  • Assist in administering and maintaining Safety compliance programs such as LOTO, Hazard Communication, PPE, Hot Work, Confined Spaces and Electrical Safety.
  • Conduct annual checks of all fire extinguishers, fire suppression systems and emergency eye wash stations, along with scheduling quarterly and annual fire system tests.
  • Interface with employees-based safety committees, supervisors/management, and other functional support groups to address safety concerns.
  • Keep work area neat and clean and follow all established safety guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties related to specific area assignments.

Requirements:

The successful candidate must have a High School diploma or equivalent G.E.D. anda minimum of 3+ years' experience with EH&S activities and processes in a manufacturing environment. Hazardous waste processing experience strongly preferred.

Additional experience includes:

  • Has previously participated and supported safety audits and safety committees.
  • Must be able to read and understand regulatory requirements from an EH&S perspective.
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of management and staff.
  • Must have basic PC experience (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook). MS Teams, Visio, and ERP system (Oracle, SAP, IFS, etc.) preferred.
  • Prior experience operating a forklift preferred
  • Background in working with outside vendors and contractors.
  • Some weekend and evening work may be required.

Compensation:

Salary Range: $60,000 - $95,000 per year. Salary is determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data
