Position description

The UC Irvine Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Samueli School of Engineering is currently accepting applications for part-time Assistant Project Scientist at 80% (32 hours a week) to join Professor Arash Kheradvar's Research Group (https://kheradvar.eng.uci.edu/). Kheradvar Research Group (KLAB) pursues several projects related to cardiovascular science and engineering. The current projects are on research and development of heart valves, tissue engineering (3D tissue culture), biofluid mechanics, medical imaging, and image analysis (MRI and Echocardiography) and artificial intelligence/deep learning.

Requirements: A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline such as mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or material science. A strong interest in a research career is desired. A minimum of 2 years R&D experience with cell culture, immunology/microbiology and RNA-seq analysis. Expertise with heart valves is preferred but not necessary. The role requires the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are preferred.
