Job Summary

Our Materials Manager will plan, lead, and implement all activities associated with the Materials department including purchasing, inventory control, shipping, receiving, and material handling for our small cable plant (under 50 employees) in Carson, CA under a high mix low volume environment. This role falls under Belden's Alpha Wire Brand. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and will work onsite from our custom cable plant in Carson, CA.

You will make an Impact in the following way:

  • Develop and implement the Materials group strategies and plans including resources, systems, procedures, and projects to support, contribute to, and integrate within the organization's annual business plan and long-term strategy. Includes coordinating physical inventory, inventory controls, the cycle count program.
  • Consolidate and lead all purchasing activities to incorporate best practices to reduce our material spend, inventory levels, E&O and increase inventory turns and cash flows. Including updating lead times for Finished Goods and Raw Materials
  • Develop, plan and partner with Manufacturing to implement material handling activities to increase manufacturing efficiencies and reduce downtime, as well as assist other parts of the organization in implementing projects and initiatives to improve and manage materials in, within and out of the plant. Includes creating and updating the Master Production Schedule, material availability assessment, performing Capacity Analysis, and POV for Production Plan/ COGS.
  • Manage small team according to company standards (Hiring, employee development, training, performance evaluations, etc.)
  • Key Performance Indicators are On Time Delivery, Past Due Backlog, Inventory Turns, E&O, and Inventory accuracy.

What you will bring:

  • Education -Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain or related field, highly preferred
  • Experience - 3-5 years of materials experience in a manufacturing environment (experience in custom contract manufacturing is a plus). Use of ERP (BPCS), and data reporting (Oracle-Hyperion preferred).
  • Customer's Define our Success - Experience purchasing materials for quality intensive markets such as the medical industry a plus
  • Continuous Improvement is Our Way of Life - Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen a plus

Applicants can expect a base compensation range of $81,900 - $122,850 plus benefits and additional incentives based on the level of the role. This is the reasonable estimate that Belden believes it might pay for this job based on applicable circumstances at the time of posting. Belden may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law, and commensurate with the applicant's experience, qualifications, and geographical location.
