The Opportunity:

Mattel is seeking an Associate Manager, Sustainability Measurement & Analytics based in El Segundo, California to help support the company's strategic objectives related to impact measurement, sustainability data governance, and data-driven performance management. This position requires an understanding of sustainability concepts, awareness of the global sustainability regulatory landscape, and an ability to work cross-functionally in a highly matrixed environment.

The candidate will be detail-oriented, a systems thinker, and passionate about supporting Mattel's sustainability and social impact performance.

What Your Impact Will Be:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Sustainability & Social Impact, the responsibilities of this Associate Manager will include but not be limited to:

  • Collaborate to establish goals and objectives for sustainability data management and help implement a governance structure to drive accountability and data quality.
  • Support the creation of an auditable system and internal sustainability reporting controls in partnership with various teams (e.g. Compliance and Quality, Global Technology, Legal, Finance, Audit, etc.) to improve our internal systems and reporting infrastructure.
  • Work across the Global Sustainability & Social Impact (GSSI) team to help build a roadmap to ensure preparedness for sustainability-related reporting requirements, sustainable product and packaging data collection needs, annual climate reporting and GHG accounting, among others.
  • Convene stakeholders as part of a sustainability data working group to drive communication and change management for tracking and managing metrics.
  • Develop and maintain sustainability data dashboards to track progress toward global sustainability goals and monitor sustainability program outputs (e.g. PlayBack Program).
  • Maintain sustainability data attributes, monitor partner sustainability requirements, support Quality and Compliance team in tracking regulatory data (e.g. global EPR schemes) and providing analysis to improve outcomes and drive progress.
  • Establish processes and identify ways to streamline information, improve data quality, and increase communication between key stakeholders (e.g. engineers, manufacturing sites, suppliers, etc.).
  • Oversee the implementation of a supplier engagement platform to enable data collection and support other technology system implementations and integrations, as needed.
  • Support the exploration and consideration of leveraging innovative technologies (e.g. Artificial Intelligence) and their intersections with sustainability risks and opportunities.
  • Regularly support the GSSI team with data-driven insights and decision making and work cross-functionally to maintain clear datasets and analysis for internal and external reporting.
  • Ad hoc projects and assigned duties, as necessary.

What We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years of experience in related disciplines and experience with sustainability data management
  • Experience coordinating with IT teams to implement systems and experience guiding organizational change management for implementation of new systems or processes
  • Experience with sustainability data management, supplier engagement, and/or emissions accounting platforms
  • Understanding of sustainability concepts and familiarity with key reporting frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD, etc.), leading questionnaires and ratings and rankers (CDP, S&P CSA, ISS, etc.)
  • Ability to efficiently handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, adapt to shifting priorities, and be very detail-oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to manage relationships, and excellent time management skills
  • Experience working with internal and/or third party audit teams a plus
  • Demonstrated agrowth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.


The annual base salary range for this position is between $110,000 and $130,000.
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate's work location, skills and experience.
