Job Description

Summary of Position

The Education Placement and Licensing Coordinator is a part of the Clinical Experience Team and works with all Education department programs, faculty, staff and students managing clinical experiences; supporting school district partnerships; using data management systems related to licensing coursework, field experience and student teaching; and supporting student licensure requirements and processes. This person must keep abreast of the education rules related to clinical experience and K- 12 licensure for all teacher licensure programs, including departmental and institutional processes as they relate to candidates in the department. This work will further departmental and institutional vision through equity focused practices and engaging with intentionally diverse teacher candidates and K-12 sites. The Education Placement and Licensing Coordinator will work directly with host teachers, district level administrators, Augsburg faculty, staff, and students to ensure clinical experience requirements are met while supporting other student licensure requirements. The Education Placement and Licensing Coordinator also acts as a licensing office for the University as it relates to state approved teacher licenses.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate clinical experiences across all Teacher Education Programs through securing placements for undergraduate and graduate candidates enrolled in the Minneapolis and Rochester education programs.
  • Disseminate clinical experience information to students, faculty, and K - 12 schools, including but not limited to the placement process, clinical experience licensure requirements, K - 12 tasks for field experience candidates, guides for using the clinical experience database, etc.
  • Meet with students individually and in groups to discuss clinical experience and licensure requirements and progress toward those requirements.
  • Enter and monitor clinical experience related data in university and departmental data systems while verifying candidates have fulfilled clinical experience requirements.
  • Coordinate data collection efforts around clinical experience with the Unit Leader to ensure effective Clinical Experience Team and Departmental review and analysis for reporting to state and national bodies.
  • Use multiple modes of communication with students, faculty, and staff regarding clinical experience procedures and requirements for licensure, expectations for communication with K - 12 schools, K - 12 district and school contracts and agreements, and departmental professional dispositions while highlighting the importance of clinical experience and its relationship to equity and social justice-oriented teaching.
  • Maintain, organize, and coordinate clinical experience contracts with school districts.
  • Stay current with recommendations around clinical practice, particularly related to state and national approval and accreditation standards as well as departmental commitments to supporting state and local efforts to increase teachers of color and American Indian teachers.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Experience and Partnership Coordinator regarding cooperation and partnership agreements, communication with partner schools, identification of high-quality cooperating teachers and supervisors, analysis of clinical experience data and procedures to further develop clinical experiences for candidates.
  • Collaborate with the Education Program Coordinator on student licensure requirement progress to determine supports and outreach needed.
  • Participate in Metro and State placement coordinator meetings and MACTE Placement Directors initiatives, collaborating with placement directors at other institutions (ongoing, as needed), and meeting with each group throughout the year.
  • Monitor Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board regulations for clinical experience and educator licensing requirements and coordinate with the Unit Leader and Clinical Experience Team to update procedures and program materials and disseminate changes related to clinical experience and licensure.
  • Monitor, prepare, verify, and sign licensure applications in cooperation with the Program Coordinator(s), Clinical Experience Team, and Unit Leader.
  • Assist with training faculty, K - 12 educators, and students in using data systems to request and document clinical experience in data systems.
  • Coordinate the distribution and collection of host teachers and cooperating teacher evaluations of individual students.
  • All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).

Partnership Support

  • Collaborate with K-12 school personnel as needed to ensure placements that meet the needs of the Augsburg programs as well as the needs of partner school districts.
  • Support the Clinical Experience and Partnership Coordinator in developing and maintaining cohesive clinical experience expectations, opportunities, and requirements.
  • Assist in identifying resources that faculty can provide partner schools, as a part of aligning our work with P-12 partners to our equity focused vision.
  • Update Clinical Experience Team, department chair and program faculty and staff on issues related to clinical experience.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in K - 12 or higher education in diverse settings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching Certification preferred.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong technical acumen, including proficiency with Google suite, and ability to learn technical skills and tools quickly.
  • Ability to understand and manipulate multiple data management systems, both entering and retrieving data and troubleshooting for others using the system.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentations in virtual and in-person settings.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently in a diverse work environment.
  • Ability to be attentive to details, particularly when applying processes and policies.
  • Ability to reason/analyze; maintain confidentiality; and demonstrate patience, understanding.
  • Ability to show initiative; multi-task and organize workflow; manage one or more multiple projects; and handle frequent interruptions.
