The UC Irvine School of Education seeks applicants for temporary, part-time lecturer pool in fall quarter 2024 to teach a course in the Master of Arts with Credential Program. Courses are available in the multiple subject and single subject pathway. Some courses are part of a 2-quarter or 3-quarter series.
Course Description:
Methods of Teaching in the Secondary School - English (EDUC 338) 4 units, fall, single subject program, 1 section available. First course in a 3-quarter series.
Introduction to teaching reading, writing, and speaking skills in secondary school. Emphasis upon integrative approach to teaching literature, composition, and grammar consistent with the California State Framework. Practice in the design of lesson plans that are both integrated and cumulative. This course is followed by Applied Instructional Strategies in Secondary Schools (EDUC 342A and EDUC 342B) in the winter and spring quarter - 2 units each. Ideally the same instructor would teach 3 quarters, fall, winter and spring.

Minimum Qualifications:
A master's degree, a record of successful teaching experience, a valid multiple or single subject credential, experience teaching in K-12 setting, and demonstrated expertise in the content of the course to be taught. Relevant experience may be considered.
Desired Qualifications:
A doctoral degree in a field related to the course to be taught. Teaching at University level.
Salary:
Annual full-time salaries will begin at a base rate of $66,259. The salary range is $66,259-70,295 annually. (A 4-unit course = 33% of a full time 100% assignment.
